The Pater Foundation, partnered with Tomliza Education Center in Navakholo, Kenya to offer a training seminar on early childhood interventions for kids with learning difficulties in June 2023. 14 teachers and staff from the center attended the daylong training and shared views on methods to enable learners with reading difficulties.

The day started with sessions where the teachers shared their experiences in teaching children with learning difficulties. The Pater trainer, who now holds a doctoral degree in education psychology, facilitated group discussions on potential interventions for various forms of learning difficulty.

The discussion focussed on particular challenges in the Kenyan context and teachers discussed how they could recognize learning difficulty earlier and how they could contextualize the interventions to suit their student’s needs.
