Tuition – Pater Day 2019

Bradley Wangia, Ph.D.

Pater held a sponsored students’ day at Nambacha, Kenya in August, 2019. USA-based donors pay for tuition for each student and the students gathered to learn more about the foundation, and their donors. They shared their experiences of being sponsored and got to build a sense of community. Sponsored students come from different parts of the country and similarly attend schools all over Kenya.

As a result of their donor’s generosity, some students attend school at selective boarding schools near the major cities: Nairobi, Kisumu, and Nakuru. They would typically qualify to attend these schools on merit but their families would be unable to pay for the tuition. Other students attend day schools closer to home. Parents or guardians suggest schools to our in-country administrators who either approve or suggest better schools based on the student’s needs.

Feedback from Pater Day 2019 kids was filled with gratitude and awe that donors would think of them from the other side of the globe and spend good money on their futures. Many students expressed their thanks and wished for donors to be blessed due to the impact of their generosity on their lives.
